Sylvester is a small city in southern Georgia. It is positioned along Highway 82 and located between Albany and Tifton. According to the United States Census Bureau, Sylvester has a population of approximately 6,064 people as of 2016. Sylvester is the largest city in Worth County.

Sylvester began as a railroad stop and the economic center of Worth County in the late 1800s. It was known as Isabella Station until residents of the community voted to rename it Sylvester in honor of a local family. On December 21, 1898, the community became an incorporated municipality.
